Charles Curtis, III is a poet, songwriter, and spoken word artist hailing from Camden, NJ. Charles was exposed to poetry at a young age by his mother, who’s poetry he would often read. Charles would make his way onto the poetry circuit in 2016 where he performed in multiple poetry slams consistently placing amongst top poets. Some of his most notable performances include participation in the “Urgency of Now” panel discussion curated by WHYY, performing in the Calabash Literary Festival in Jamaica, marking his debut as an international poet and being invited to perform for CPAC (Community Planning Advocacy & Council). With a bachelor's in Political Science, Charles chooses to synthesize both his poetry and political knowledge to encourage community interaction with local government. Currently he is the founder and owner of Broken Minds. Charles’ goal is to impact the culture in a dynamic way by engaging the community and cultivating the arts in all ways it chooses to manifest in his city.
